People feel valued when they are able to make a contribution to the community of which they are part. The Capstone Initiative mobilises others to make a difference - choosing to give a hand-up rather than a hand-out to those in need.
This enabled a Kenyan Pastor and his team to grow redundant walls into a finished building and onto the housing, feeding and educating of local orphans.

Around 110,000 orphaned children are living with HIV in Uganda. The social instability of these children dictates that many will be denied access to the life preserving HIV/AIDS drug therapy which is readily available in Uganda.

The ideal is to open the doors to the children in Community Living, which is the concept of partnering with a community to create a smaller village within it of homes for HIV positive children. Cherish is one of the only child care organizations that work with children who are HIV positive, despite the hundreds working in Uganda. Cherish aims to care for the children, embrace the future with them and change the community they will grow up in.
Cherish bought 20 acres of land on the shores of Lake Victoria - adjacent to a local village and focuses on five specific areas:
